K-12 Schools Group

  • Teachers - use SMT to view, analyze, and fine-tune their teaching, collect data, analyze lessons, and reflect on their teaching to continue to grow as a teacher, or sometimes to obtain evidence to help buffer the significant differences in teacher ratings from one administrator to another, or when using data to bolster their submission to NBCT.

  • Cooperating Teachers and Student Teachers – uses the real-time feature of SMT to provide comments and offer feedback or videotape instruction so the future teacher can complete a self-analysis and the two can have a conversation about the data collected.

  •  Teachers and Action Research - As more teachers use action research to study instruction and teaching practices, SMT provides the tool for both qualitative comments and quantitative data as the source for gathering data and analyzing instruction.

  • Administrator - A more evidence-based lens may help administrators justify recommendations regarding specific aspects of teaching when designing improvement plans and needing data for indicators of growth.

  • Administrators and Teachers - A teacher and administrator can collaborate to complete the yearly classroom observation and feedback assessment process using data from SMT, or a teacher and peer mentor may wish to demonstrate and highlight pedagogical strengths by presenting the data with analysis as part of their observation process. Access to SMT Teacher Explorations.

Registration and Cost

  • A group account costs $45 per individual for a one-year license.

  • Volume Discount - After the first 100 users the price is reduced to $40 per individual for a one-year license.

  • Teachers and administrators register as a group or groups. Some schools place all members within one group while others group teachers by subject matter or by a range of grade levels.

  • Each group needs a key person who will register for a group account and then add members to the group using names and email addresses. Note that group size can be any number of teachers or administrators. Any four members of the group can be included in any observation of a member of the group, but for security reasons members can come from only those who are listed and registered from within that specific group.

  • Online registration requires use of a credit card or groups can register using a Purchase Order Number.

  • Optional - While SMT provides self-guided training using text and video any additional training requested for teachers and administration is optional but would incur an additional fee to be determined on a case-by-case basis depending on the extent and need of the institution. Contact SMT to discuss options.

  • Optional - SMT can also provide highly skilled SMT observers and data collection personnel when programs require valid and reliable data for program accountability documentation and when faced with oversight examinations that require evidence of impact.

  •

  • Exclusions: K-12 Schools license fee only allows the use of SMT for teacher and administrator observation-related work and teacher development but NOT for research or evaluation associated with a project that is funded by an internal or external funding source, and especially not for work done for hire as an external evaluator of a grant or a funded project using local, state, national or international funds. See the Grants and Funding - Learn More, and consult with SMT per needs, options, and a license fee.
